Providing Essential Medical Services to Dublin's Homeless
GMQ Medical is a service that provides GP adddiction and alcohol services to homeless persons in Dublin who are unable to access mainstream services. . The service principals are Dr Austin O'Carroll and Dr Kieran Harkin who lead a team of medical staff with experience of managing the health issues of homeless people. The service is funded by the HSE and is free of charge to patients.
Our clients are some of the many thousands of homeless people living in Dublin who include those rough sleeping, in hostels or temporary accommodation. Homelessness and ill health are intrinsically linked and either can exacerbate the other.
Exiting homeless is the overarching treatment goal that informs the service provision of GMQ.
